Our practice includes a psychiatrist, George S.Thompson MD, and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, Ashley Cott APRN. Both can evaluate, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions, including prescribing psychiatric medication. Their education and training paths differ, but both provide direct patient care. In Texas, nurse practitioners provide medical care and prescribe under a physician agreement. Ashley sees and manages patients directly while collaborating with Dr. Thompson, who provides the required oversight of delegated care and is available for consultation.
